2019 Catholic Charities Appeal
The Theme for 2019 is “See All the People.” Since 1942, the Appeal has helped people in all phases of life – from children, to youth, to parents, to the elderly. Your support sustains the numerous agencies, programs, and ministries providing food and shelter, educating children and adults, and meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of thousands. We encourage you to support the Appeal as generously as you can. You can make a one-time gift, or, a pledge with convenient payments throughout the year. You can give by mail, use a contribution card located in church, or make your gift or pledge securely online by clicking the DONATE button below.
My dear friends in Christ,
This year’s Catholic Charities Appeal, ‘See All the People,” reminds us that the Church lives all around us. It is a living, breathing entity that is present in our communities, and in our people. Across the Diocese of Fall River, tens of thousands are benefiting from the work of the many programs, ministries, and services supported each year by the Catholic Charities Appeal. These agencies provide spiritual and material help, and resources that empower individuals and families to embark on a path to new beginnings.
Sacred Scripture reveals for us numerous accounts of Jesus’ special concern for the sick, the needy, the discouraged, and the disenfranchised. In St. Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus instructs us that as Christians, we have an obligation to help all who turn to us for assistance regardless of race, creed, nationality, gender, or economic status, when He says, “Whatever you did for one of these, the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
Each year at this time, I ask for your support of the Catholic Charities Appeal. Your contribution of any size enables our Diocesan Church to follow Christ’s example, to bear witness to those in need of our gifts, and to see all the ways we can bring the promise of life-changing hope to those who are most in need of our support throughout southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
With deep gratitude for the past generosity of parishioners, businesses, and friends throughout our community, I come to you again to ask for your support. Together, we can “See All the People,” and, see all the good our contributions make for our neighbors in need.
Sincerely yours in the Lord,
Most Reverend Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., D.D.
