Anima Christi Legacy Society

INSPIRED BY THE SOUL OF CHRIST TO LEAVE A LEGACY OF FAITH

Anima Christi Means “Soul of Christ”

The Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts established the “Anima Christi” Legacy Society to honor individuals and families who have made a planned gift in their will or estate plan to the Catholic Foundation, any of its funds, a parish, a Catholic school, a Catholic organization, or the Diocese of Fall River.

Legacy gifts play a vital role in the Foundation’s ability to increase its support of the people within the Diocese of Fall River for years to come. The goals of the “Anima Christi” Legacy Society are to thank and honor those who have included The Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts in their estate plans and to serve as a resource for others considering a legacy gift. We hope that you will consider becoming a member of this special circle of faith and devotion in service to the Diocese of Fall River and its life-changing ministries.

INSPIRING STORIES

Roy Jarrett, A Champion of Supporting Catholic Education

In 1997, the first St. Mary’s Education Fund Summer Gala Committee was created. Roy Jarrett joined the committee on Cape Cod as a founding member. He remained a dedicated member of what has become known as the FACE Summer Gala for 22 years. His presence could be found at every meeting, as he conscientiously volunteered for FACE and helped disseminate its importance in the wider community. Roy never missed the FACE Summer Gala. He was a devoted and enthusiastic supporter of FACE and proudly served as Chairperson in 2011. In 2019, Roy attended the 22nd Annual FACE Summer Gala and sadly passed away ten days later at the age of 91.

We honor our beloved friend Roy and remember him as a kind and generous person. He graciously and thoughtfully remembered FACE in his estate arrangements, leaving a legacy to benefit students. Through Roy’s generosity, his everlasting support will assist hundreds of children in need of financial support to receive a Catholic education.

I have been blessed to serve Christ’s mission as a priest of our Diocese. By leaving a legacy gift, I feel I am continuing to help our Diocese serve Christ’s mission on earth.

–Fr. Marcel Bouchard

Ways to Give

What is a Bequest?

Also known as a planned gift, a bequest can direct your assets of any dollar amount, of property, or a portion of your overall estate to a charity.

Benefits of making a bequest

• Leave a lasting legacy
• Lessen the tax burden on your family
• Possible estate tax savings
• How to make bequest

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends, or The Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts as part of your estate plan.

A bequest can be made several ways

• You can gift a specific dollar amount or asset
• You can gift a percentage of your estate
• You can gift from the balance or residue of your estate
• You can make a beneficiary designation of certain assets

In order to make a bequest, you should speak with your attorney. Your attorney can help you include in your estate plan a bequest to your parish, a Catholic school, or the Catholic Foundation to use where most needed. We have provided some basic bequest language to assist you and your attorney.

What is a gift by beneficiary designation?

Designating the Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts as a beneficiary of certain assets or accounts that you own means that you make the determination of the gift now. It becomes available at your passing to use as you have directed.
